A Storm Elopement | Laura & Felix

Felix & Laura woke up to 90km/hour winds battering the side of their house, but this didn’t keep them from their dream of being married outside on Skye. With the all-weather celebrant Francesca to conduct the ceremony, The Skye Piper lifting all our spirits, and Bonny’s Wonderland doing Laura’s Scottish weatherproof makeup magic, we made it happen!

I arrived in the morning at Laura & Felix’s cosy cabin on Skye. The weather outside made the getting-ready part of the day feel extra cosy, as the warmth of the fireplace was in stark contrast to the harsh weather outside. When the time came, we headed over to their ceremony spot at the Quiraing. These two had dreamt of being married with the Quiraing as their backdrop, and we would do whatever it took to make that dream come true. They said their vows as the rain dripped down their faces, and we couldn’t help by laugh at ourselves for being the only people outside that day.

In their first email to me, Laura & Felix shared this vision for their day:

We want to have big mountains behind us, old hiking boots on and a rough wind, which underlines, that life isn’t always easy together. We tell our vows in German, no matter if it’s raining or the sun is brave enough to show up. The day ends with a strong beer and traditional food in a pub nearby, where we can also dance into our new life together.

Their vision for the day certainly came true and I don’t think that Laura and Felix will ever forget the truly unique experience of getting married in the middle of a storm.
