Starting at Edinburgh, I hired a car from the airport and drove through Callander and Loch Lomond through to Glencoe/Fort William. I found the driving to be fairly easy and navigation wasn’t an issue. Most days were fairly dry and sunny, but I can imagine the roads may be more challenging in heavy rain and snow. Some of my favourites days in the highlands consisted of simply jumping in the car and driving around without a map or any destination in mind and enjoying whatever was around the next corner.
Scotland, you were truly something special. I’ll be back very soon.
