Alex & Jamie | Winter Isle of Skye Elopement, Scotland

Alex & Jamie held their elopement in the Isle of Skye on a snowy day in Winter. They stayed at the Skye Red Fox Retreat, which is located close to the iconic Quiraing and Storr. It also has an outdoor bathtub with incredible views of the Trotternish ridge!

Alex & Jamie held their ceremony on the Quiraing, where the snow started to fall gently around them as they said their vows. I had never seen snow in this particular location. I was in awe when I saw the snowflakes start falling! The ceremony was led by one of my favourite celebrants, Rona the Humanist, and included a traditional handfasting and drinking from the Quaich.

Alex & Jamie wanted to get married for a long time but struggled to find a way to have the ‘normal wedding’ that best represented them. Then 2020 happened, and their perspective changed. I love these words that they shared with me on why an elopement was right for them.

“An elopement just works for us, we love the outdoors, we love hiking and beautiful, striking landscapes. We can tell each other how much we love each other and ugly cry without feeling embarrassed. It will feel like a normal adventure – a hike, a flask of tea and a picnic – only this time we will be husband and wife at the end of it!”
